COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Virginia women’s swimming team put in some solid performances on day two of the NCAA Championships Friday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the Ohio State campus. The Cavaliers advanced to 27th place after accruing a total of 30 points.
First-year Liz Shaw led the Cavaliers, posting a time of 4:10.48 in the 400 IM to finish 10th overall in the event and earn Honorable Mention All-America honors. Classmate Claire Crippen also performed well, placing 14th and touching at 4:11.92, also claiming Honorable Mention All-America accolades.
Second-year Mei Christensen had a standout performance in the 100 back, placing 15th overall, another Honorable Mention selection, with a time of 54.25 in the finals.
Virginia closed out the day with a ninth-place finish in the 800 free relay. Stephanie Glover, Megan Evo, Jenna Harris and Jessica Lewis posted a time of 7:07.44, to break the conference record they set at the ACC Championships. The quartet again earned Honorable Mention All-America accolades in the event for the second year in a row.
The NCAA Championships wrap up Saturday with the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, platform diving, and 400 free relay events.
