GREENSBORO, N.C. –

University of Virginia first-year swimmer Ian Prichard (Ventura, Calif./Buena) has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week after helping lead the Cavaliers to a 122-119 victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday, November 11. Prichard won one event and finished second in helping UVa improve its record to 4-0.

Prichard, a freestyle swimmer, turned in a pair of his best collegiate performances against Pittsburgh. Prichard dominated the field in winning the 500-yard freestyle by nearly eight seconds in a time of 4:26.47. He later finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:39.72, just 17 hundredths of a second shy of the winning time. Prichard current holds the top time in the 200 and 500 free in the ACC this season.

The 11th-ranked Virginia men’s swimming and diving team returns to action on Friday, November 17 when it travels to Knoxville, Tenn., for 2:00 p.m. meet against eighth-ranked Tennessee.
