CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are hosting five other teams in the 2000 Cavalier Invitational Thursday, November 30 through Saturday, December 2 at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center. The other teams competing in the invitational are Central Connecticut State University, West Chester University, West Virginia University, the College of William & Mary, and Yale University.

A total of 42 events (21 men’s and 21 women’s) will be contested over the three-day meet. Preliminaries will begin each day at 10:00 a.m. with finals commencing at 6:00 p.m. Preliminaries of the one and three-meter diving events will be held following the completion of morning swimming prelims.

The Virginia men’s swimming and diving team enters the meet as the 12th-ranked team in the Speedo America College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 Poll. The Cavaliers stand at 4-1 overall and are 1-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The UVa women’s team is 13th in the women’s Speedo America CSCAA Top 25 Poll and stands at 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the ACC. The Cavaliers have won 24 consecutive dual meets with the streak dating back to the 1997-98 season.
