CHARLOTTESVILLE – University of Virginia President John T. Casteen III todayappointed a nine-member search committee to recommend a replacement for M.Terry Holland, who will step down as athletics director June 1.

Holland will become a special assistant to Casteen, with fundraising andother responsibilities related to planning for a new arena and specialevents center.

Named to head the committee is Earl C. Dudley Jr., a U.Va. law professorwho chairs the University’s athletics advisory committee.

Other committee members are:

Carolyn M. Callahan, professor of education and faculty representative tothe NCAA

Amy D. Cronin, chief of staff and special assistant to Casteen

W. Heywood Fralin, alumnus and member of the Alumni Association Board ofManagers

Charles L. Glazer, alumnus and member of the Board of Visitors

William W. Harmon, vice president for student affairs

Jane Miller, associate athletics director

Andrew M. Virga, alumnus and president of Virginia Student Aid Foundation

Carl P. Zeithaml, dean of the McIntire School of Commerce

Casteen said he will meet with the search committee within the next twoweeks to discuss the job description and his expectations for the searchprocess. He and Leonard W. Sandridge, executive vice president and chiefoperating officer, will be available to the committee in an ex officiocapacity.
