ATLANTA, Ga. – Three former University of Virginia golfers have advanced to match play at the 2001 U.S. Amateur Tournament.

James Driscoll, Brian Quackenbush and Cameron Yancey all qualified for match play after two rounds of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday (Aug. 20-21).

Two courses, one a par 70 and the other a par 72, were used for the stroke play competition.

Driscoll tied for fourth in qualifying for match play with a six-under-par total of 136 after rounds of 64 and 72. He finished second in the tournament last year.

Quackenbush tied for 20th after rounds of 71 and 70 for a one-under-par total of 141.

Yancey finished tied for 48th in qualifying for match play with a one-over-par total of 143 after rounds of 71 and 72.

Steve Marino, who will be a senior at Virginia this fall, missed the cut for match play by one stroke. He had rounds of 74 and 71 for a three-over-par total of 175.
