ATHENS, Ga. – Third-year University of Virginia women’s diver Alison Sharp (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock) finished 12th in the one-meter diving competition at the Georgia Diving Invitational Friday (January 4) at Gabrielsen Natatorium. In the men’s three-meter competition, second-year Pete Amstutz (St. Joseph, Mich./St. Joseph) was 17th and fourth-year Joe Piorkowski (Easton, Pa./Easton) placed 19th.

Sharp was 12th in the women’s one-meter diving with a score of 204.05. She tallied 217.50 points in finishing 12th in the preliminaries. Second-year Katie Prior (Dallas, Texas/Logos Academy) finished 21st in the prelims with a score of 178.10, while fourth-year Nicole Triden (Deephaven, Minn./Minnetonka) was 22nd with 176.35 points.

In the men’s three-meter competition, Amstutz scored 387.20 points in the prelims, but did not advance to the 12-diver finals. Piorkowski was 19th with 366.55 points.

The Georgia Diving Invitational continues Saturday with the women’s three-meter and the men’s one-meter competitions.
