GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Virginia second-year swimmer Luke Anderson (Charlottesville, Va./Bolles School) has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Swimmers of the Week as announced Monday (February 11). Anderson, a sprint freestyle specialist, earns the ACC’s weekly award for the third time this season.

Anderson won two individual events and one relay in 12th-ranked Virginia’s 199-96 victory over Maryland February 9 in College Park, Md. Anderson won the 100 free by more than a second with a time of 44.97 and also won the 200 free with a time of 1:38.49, which was better than three seconds ahead of the runnerup. He also swam the breaststroke leg on the Cavaliers’ winning 200 medley relay that clocked a time of 1:32.00. In the 400 free relay, which the Cavaliers exhibitioned, Anderson’s relay team posted the top time (3:03.68).

The Virginia men’s swimming and diving team returns to action at the 2002 ACC Championships February 28 through March 2 in College Park, Md. The Cavalier women compete in the 2002 ACC Championships in College Park, Md., February 21-23.
