Charlottesville, Va. – The Uva women’s tennis team picked up its second consecutive win of the spring season, downing in-state rival Old Dominion, by a score of 4-3, in Virginia Beach, Va. Marta Bechliwanis had the clinching match at No. 5 singles, with a 6-2, 6-3, win over Patricia Araujo. Since Old Dominion did not have a No. 3 team compete in doubles, the No. 6 match in singles, the Cavaliers won at No. 6 by default.

Henriette Williams lost a close 6-0, 1-6, 6-4 match to fifth-ranked Nataly Cahanna. Cahanna finished last season, ranked No. 8 in the nation. Also picking up wins were Amy O’Donnell at No. 3 singles and Dora Bechliwanis at No. 4 singles. Jennifer Tuchband lost a close 7-6, 7-6 match to nationally-ranked Ana Rodeljevic. O’Donnell and Bechliwanis picked up wins over Mily Kannarkat and Julia Sotiriu, respectively.

The Cavaliers return to action on Sunday, February 10, when they travel to Blacksburg, Va., to take on Virginia Tech at 2p.m.
