Raleigh, N.C. – The UVa women’s tennis team concluded its 2002 season with a 4-0 loss to No. 9 Wake Forest at the ACC Championships. The Cavaliers close their 2002 season with a record of 11-10.

The Demon Deacons won three singles matches and clinched the doubles point to secure the win. They advance to face North Carolina in the semifinal match at 1 p.m.

Karin Coetzee defeated Amy O’Donnell at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Katie Martzoff defeated Dora Bechliwanis at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and Elizabeth Proctor defeated Christine Kim at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-2. In doubles, Martzoff and Schwartz clinched the point with an 8-5 win over O’Donnell and Kim at No. 3.

This match is the final match for Cavalier seniors Christine Kim and Amy O’Donnell. Kim closes her career with 38 wins, including three consecutive wins to close out the regular season. O’Donnell posts 69 career victories, including 14 in her senior year. Kim and O’Donnell teamed to win six matches in doubles this season.
