Greensboro, N.C. – Conor Gill, who helped the Cavaliers stay perfect in league play, was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Gill a 6-2, 200-pound attackman from Lutherville, Md., played a key role in the Cavaliers’ 10-9 win over North Carolina on Saturday. He had his first multi-goal game of the season and finished the contest with two goals, two assists and collected four ground balls.

His first-quarter goal was his first in five games. Gill had a hand in Virginia’s final three goals, all within a span of 58 seconds toward the end of the third period. He assisted on Chris Rotelli’s goal with 1:22 left to put the Cavaliers up 8-6, then scored his second goal of the game 30 seconds later. He assisted on A.J. Shannon’s tally to give Virginia a 10-6 lead.

Virginia has won six in a row and is currently 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the ACC. The Cavaliers return to action at home this Saturday against Duke. The game, which will decide the ACC regular season champion, begins at 1:00 p.m.
