ROSWELL, Ga – The University of Virginia men’s golf team stands tied for 23rd of 27 teams after the second round of the 2002 NCAA East Regional at the Ansley Golf Club on Friday.

The ACC teams dominate the top spots. Clemson holds a one-stroke lead over host Georgia Tech, ranked No. 1 nationally, with a 577 (+1). The Yellow Jackets are second with a 2578 (+2), while North Carolina is third at 581 (+5). The Cavaliers carded a 616 (+40).

Individually, Clemson’s D.J. Trahan stands five-under with a 139 to lead the field of 141 competitors. Georgia Southern’s Tyler McKeever and Georgia Tech’s Matt Weiberg are tied for second with a 141 (-3).

UVa junior Justin Goodhue (Glastonbury, Conn.) is tied for 17th with a 147 (+3). Senior Steve Marino (Fairfax, Va.) follows by two strokes with a 149 (+5). Junior Thomas Lee (Guttenburg, N.J.) is tied for 106th with a 158 (+14). Senior Shivin Kwatra (New Delhi, India) is 126th with a 163 (+19), while sophomore Jeremy Luce (Austin, Texas) follows with a 164 (+20).

The final round of the NCAA East Regional tees off on Saturday, May 18 at 7:12 a.m. Fans may follow live scoring via the internet at Golf Stat.
