LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Senior Marquis Weeks (Berwyn, Pa.) has accepted an invitation to play in the All-American Classic on January 22, 2005 ,at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. PST (4 p.m. EST).

A 5-10, 214-lb. safety for the Cavaliers, Weeks leads the team’s safeties with 57 tackles and is tied for third overall. His two quarterback sacks this year are the most by a UVa safety since current running backs coach Anthony Poindexter had three as a senior in 1998. Weeks has also been one of the team’s top special teams players throughout his career. An explosive kickoff returner, he averages 30.1 yards per return, the best mark in school history. Weeks is one of only three players to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in his career. Interestingly, both have come against North Carolina. His 1025 kickoff return yards rank sixth in school history.

This season Weeks has started every game next to Jermaine Hardy at safety. He earned ACC Specialist of the Week honors following his six stops and three kickoffs for 132 yards, including a 100-yard touchdown return, against North Carolina.

Virginia will face Fresno State in the MPC Computers Bowl on Dec. 27 in Boise, Idaho.
