Virginia hosts No. 25 NC State on Friday, Jan. 13. Tip-off at University Hall is set for 7 p.m. The Regional Sports Network- Fox Sports Net South (live), Comcast Sports Net (tape delay 1:30 a.m.), SunSports (live)- will televise the game. UVa then travels to longtime intra-state rival and No. 21/23 Virginia Tech on Monday, Jan. 16 for a 7 p.m. game at Cassell Coliseum. The Regional Sports Network will televise the game, which is the first competition for the women’s basketball teams in the Commonwealth Challenge.

Scouting NC State
The No. 25 Wolfpack, under the guidance of 31st-year head coach Kay Yow, stand 10-4 overall and 1-1 in ACC play after a 65-64 loss at Wake Forest on Jan. 7. Senior center Tiffany Stansbury paces the squad with 14.9 ppg, while junior guard Ashley Key adds 11.1 ppg. Sophomore forward Khadijah Whittington follows 10.9 ppg and a team-best 8.1 rpg. Senior guard Billie McDowell chips in 10.4 ppg.

Series vs. Wolfpack
Virginia has a 33-27 series advantage over NC State since the teams first met in 1974. In the teams’ only meeting last season, the Wolfpack claimed a 62-56 win in Raleigh.

In the Statistics
After 13 contests, junior Siedah Williams leads the Cavaliers with 12.1 points per game. Senior Tiffany Sardin follows with 10.4 ppg. Freshman Lyndra Littles adds 10.3 ppg and a team-best 8.2 rpg. Sophomore Sharneé Zoll leads UVa with 80 assists. UVa out-scores its opponents by +17.5 points and out-rebounds foes by +6.4 boards.
