Charlottesville, VA – Virginia junior golfer Leah Wigger shot 2-over 74 during the second round of the NCAA Championships at Ohio State to move up to 29th on the leaderboard. She stans at 6-over 150 after 36 holes of play.Wigger carded an opening round 76 and was in 46th place heading into Wednesday’s second round.

Playing in the afternoon session, Wigger posted a bogie on her second and seventh holes before reeling off 11 consecutive pars to close out her round. During the first round she played the difficult back nine at 3-over. Wigger’s 2-over score was the 20th best during the second round among the 126 competitors.

Thursday she will start her third round at 8:50 a.m. off the first tee. The 72-hole tournament concludes Friday.

Wigger hopes to continue her climb in the standings and post a second-consecutive top-10 finish. She was the runner up at last year’s championships. Wigger has managed a top-10 showing in nine of 10 tournaments this season.

Pepperdine’s Eileen Vargas has a four-shot lead after 36 holes of play. Vargas shot 1-under 71 during the second round after opening with a 68. Arizona State’s Jennifer Osborn is in second place at 143.

The Sun Devils lead the team standings at 10-over 586. Duke is second at 589 and USC is third at 591.
