Golf Stat Results

Ooltewah, TN – The Virginia men’s golf team was tied for ninth when play was suspended due to darkness at the Scenic City Invitational being contest at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, TN. The Cavaliers opened play by shooting 317 in the morning led by a pair of 6-over 78s by Greg Carlin and Daniel McGurk.

Freshman Kyle Strough shot 7-over 79 during his first collegiate round while fellow first-year Preston Yates carded an 82 to round out the UVa scoring. Daniel Kefale shot 83 during the first round. McGurk and Yates were the only UVa golfers to compete their second round. McGurk posted an even-par 72, matching his best single-round score from last year. Yates improved to 81 during his second tour of The Honors Course. A trio of Cavalier golfers were on the 17th hole when play was suspended.

Virginia was tied for ninth at 36 over when play stopped. Charlotte, which also did not finish its round, was tied with host Middle Tennessee State at 15-over.

Mississippi State’s Callum Macaulay led the field by three shots at 4-under 140.

The second round will be completed Tuesday morning. The final round of play will also take place Tuesday. Live scoring from the tournament is online at GolfStat.com.
