FREEPORT, Grand Bahama Island – The Virginia Cavaliers captured third place at the Junkanoo Jam with a 76-47 win over Central Florida on Saturday at St. George’s High School.

With the win, Virginia improved to 4-2 overall, while UCF fell to 1-6 on the season.

The No. 15 Baylor Lady Bears won the tourney with a 71-53 victory over South Dakota State. Virginia sophomore Lyndra Littles (Washington, D.C.) was named to the five-member All-Tournament Team.

In the first half, Virginia scored the first bucket and never looked back. The Cavaliers jumped out to a quick 17-7 lead en route to a 17-point advantage. UVa held a 13-point edge at intermission, 36-23.

In the second half, Virginia opened the stanza with a 12-0 run, holding the Golden Knights scoreless over the first six minutes of action. UVa pulled ahead by as many as 32 points before it was all over.

Littles tallied her fourth double-double of the season (ninth of her career) with a game-high 21 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Freshman Monica Wright (Woodbridge, Va.) followed with 13 points, while senior Brenna McGuire (Winchester, Mass.) added 12 second-half points, all from three-point range. Sophomore Abby Robertson (Springfield, Va.), who started in place of injured senior captain Siedah Williams (Cleveland, Ohio), grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.

The Knights’ Kristin Thomas was the only player in double figures with 11 points. Francine Houston added eight points.

Overall, Virginia out-rebounded UCF, 44-30. The Cavaliers shot a47 percent (27-57) from the field and 59 percent (17-29) from the line.

Virginia returns home to Charlottesville to host Temple, coached by former Cavalier Dawn Staley, on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena.
