Charlottesville, VA – The Virginia men’s golf team heads south for spring break to play in a pair of tournaments this week. The Cavaliers open the spring portion of their season at Florida State’s Seminole Intercollegiate March 4-6. They conclude their week March 11-12 at the Jim Hackler Invitational in Myrtle Beach
Last season the Cavaliers were eighth at the Seminole Intercollegiate behind Eamonn McLoughlin’s eighth-place finish. Coastal Carolina won the tournament. This year’s field includes Auburn, the College of Charleston, No. 14 East Tennessee State, Florida State, LSU, Mississippi State, Mississippi, No. 13 North Carolina, NC State, Northwestern, Toledo, UAB, Central Florida and Vanderbilt.
The tournament runs Sunday through Monday at the Golden Eagle Country Club. Results will be available at golfstat.com. The Cavaliers are scheduled to tee off Sunday at 8:33 a.m. from the 10th tee.
Head coach Bowen Sargent’s lineup will feature McLoughlin, Daniel Kefale, Kyle Stough, Greg Carlin and Conrad Von Borsig. A sophomore, Von Borsig led the Cavaliers in their last two outings during the fall and was first on the team with a 74.50 stroke average.
