Cavalier Golfers Tied for Ninth at Hackler

Myrtle Beach, SC – The Virginia men’s golf team is tied with Purdue and Pepperdine for ninth place after the opening two rounds of play at the General Jim Hackler Championship being contested at the TPC of Myrtle Beach. The Cavaliers posted rounds of 295 and 290 to finish Sunday’s play at 9-over 585.

Virginia was led by Eamonn McLoughlin who had rounds of 75 and 70 to stand 28th at 145. His second-round score of 2-under 70 was his best 18-hole total for the season. Daniel Kefale is one shot behind McLoughlin at 2-over 146. He opened with a 71 and shot 75 in the second round. UVa’s Conrad Von Borsig is 48th at 148, Greg Carlin and Kyle Stough are tied for 69th at 151.

Lamar shot 553 and holds a seven-shot lead over Southern California at the top of the leaderboard. East Tennessee State’s Rhys Davies and USC’s Tom Glissmeyer share the lead in stroke play at 7-under 135.

The final round of the tournament takes place Monday.
