Baton Rouge, LA – The 17th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team shot 25-over 313 and is in 13th place after the opening round of the LSU/Cleveland Classic being played at The University Club.

Leah Wigger topped the Cavaliers with a 3-over 75 to finish in 21st place after the opening round. Rachel Smith is 32nd after shooting 5-over 77. Lindsey Robinson is in 56th place at 80, Kristen Simpson is 68th at 81 and Jennie Arseneault is 74th at 82.

Vanderbilt, ranked seventh, grabbed the first-round lead at 6-over 294. Top-ranked Duke is tied with No. 14 Tennessee for second place at 298.

Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst has a one-shot lead in stroke play after opening with a 4-under 68. Vanderbilt’s Jacqui Concolino is second at 69.

The tournament second round takes place Saturday and the final round is Sunday.
