Wigger Moves Up to 10th at LSU Classic

Baton Rouge, LA – Led by Leah Wigger’s 1-under 71 and Jennie Arseneault’s 1-over 73, the Virginia women’s golf team moved up to 12th at the LSU/Cleveland Classic after two rounds of play. The Cavaliers turned in a team score of 12-over 300, a 13-shot improvement over their first-round effort. UVa stands at 613 entering Sunday’s final round.

Wigger’s two-day total of 2-over 146 moved her up to 10th on the leaderboard. Arseneault, who shot 82 in the first round, is now 52nd at 155. Rachel Smith shot 79 Saturday and is 57th at 156. Kristen Simpson shot 77 during the second round and is 67th at 158. Lindsay Robinson carded an 80 for the second straight day and is 73rd at 160.

Top-ranked Duke moved to the top of the team standings by shooting even-par 288 Saturday. The Blue Devils’ 36-hole total of 586 is three shots better than Auburn. Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst owns a three-shot lead in stroke play at 7-under 137. Mississippi State’s Amanda Mathis is second at 140.
