Athens, GA – Virginia senior Leah Wigger is tied for fourth after the opening round of play at Georgia’s Liz Murphey Classic being held at the UGa Golf Course. Wigger shot 1-over 72 to lead 19th-ranked UVa, which is in ninth place with a team score of 303. Auburn, ranked fourth, leads the field at 293.

Wigger trails LSU’s Melissa Eaton by two shots in stroke play. Eaton was the only player to break par Friday. Michigan State’s Sara Brown and Auburn’s Margaret Shirley are tied for second at 71.

Virginia’s Jennie Arseneault shot 75 to finish the first day 21st overall. Whitney Neuhauser and Rachel Smith are tied for 48th after carding 78s and Carly Truitt is 73rd with an 81.

Michigan State trails Auburn by four shots on the leaderboard while Florida and Arkansas are tied for third at 300.
