Evans, GA – By virtue of shooting its best single-round score of the season, the Virginia men’s golf team moved up the leaderboard four spots to finish 13th at the Administaff Augusta State Invitational. With three players going under par, the Cavaliers shot 5-under 283 during Sunday’s final round for a 54-hole total of 13-over 877, the team’s best tournament score this year. The Cavaliers’ score was the third best during the final round in the 18-team field.

Senior captain Eamonn McLoughlin shot 3-under 69 to lead Virginia during the final round. His best 18-hole score of the season moved him up to 31st overall at 2-over 216. Conrad Von Borsig was UVa’s top finisher, shooting 2-under 70 on Sunday to finish 24th at 216. It marked the fifth time this year he was the team’s top finisher.

Both Von Borsig and McLoughlin’s 54-hole totals were season bests.

Daniel Kefale also carded a 2-under 70 during the final round and improved to 58th at 6-over 222. Greg Carlin rounded out the Cavaliers scoring Sunday with a 2-over 74 to place 70th at 225. Kyle Stough was 81st at 228.

Coastal Carolina, ranked 11th, overcame a nine-shot deficit to defeat No. 17 North Carolina by one shot to take the tournament title with a score of 11-under 853. Coastal shot 4-under 284 during the final round and benefited by the Tar Heels posting a 294, the third highest score of the day. Dustin Johnson also gave Coast Carolina medalist honors by winning the individual title by six shots a 12-under 204. He shot 4-under 68 during all three rounds.

The Cavaliers have this weekend off before heading to Raleigh April 13-14 for the Marriott Intercollegiate hosted by NC State.
