New London, NC – The Virginia men’s golf team shot 4-over 292 during Saturday’s second round of the ACC Championships to finish the first 36 holes tied with 20th-ranked Wake Forest for seventh place. The Cavaliers enter Sunday’s final round with a two-day total of 9-over 585. The tournament is being held at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C.

Georgia Tech, ranked 12th, posted the day’s best score, a 5-under 283, to take the lead at 6-under 570. The Yellow Jackets are two shots ahead of 25th-ranked Duke and three shots in front of 11th-ranked Clemson. The Tigers led after first day when they finished at 285.

Eamonn McLoughlin and Conrad Von Borsig both shot 1-over 73 to continue to lead the Virginia contingent. They are tied for 18th at 1-over 145. Freshman Kyle Stough had UVa’s best score Saturday with an even-par 72. He, along with teammate Greg Carlin, are tied for 33rd overall at 4-over 148. Carlin shot 74 during the second round. Daniel Kefale posted a 3-over 75 for the second straight day and is 39th at 150.

North Carolina’s Martin Ureta leads the field at 5-under 139. Clemson’s Kyle Stanley and Georgia Tech’s Cameron Tringale are one shot back at 140.

The final round is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring is on the Internet at Golfstat.com.
