New London, NC – The Virginia men’s golf team finished the 54th ACC Championships in ninth place after shooting 5-over 293 during the final round of the 54-hole tournament contested at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C. Virginia was led by sophomore Conrad Von Borsig, who finished 25th at 3-over 219.

Virginia had rounds of 293 and 292 during the event’s first two rounds and finished at 14-over 878. Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech shared the team title at 854. The Hokies shot 9-under 279 Sunday to move up from fourth place to tie the 12th-ranked Yellow Jackets.

The title was Virginia Tech’s first ACC golf championship and the 10th for Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech tied North Carolina for the 2006 title.

Daniel Kefale posted UVa’s best score Sunday with a 2-under 70 to place 30th at 4-over 220. Greg Carlin was 33rd at 221 after shooting 73 during the final round. Eamonn McLoughlin was 37th at 222 and Kyle Stough was 39th at 224.

Jonas Blixt of Florida State fired a seven-under 65 for an 8-under 208 total to claim the individual title. Blixt’s 65, which included seven birdies, one eagle and two bogies, ties the single-round course record of 65 set by Georgia Tech’s Cameron Tringale in the second round of the 2006 ACC Championship. Tringale, the defending champion, was second at 209.

Virginia will host the Cavalier Classic at Birdwood Golf Course April 28 and 29 in the team’s final regular season contest.
