Seven-game series opens at 6 p.m. Oct. 9

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. The Virginia baseball team has unveiled its plans for the upcoming Orange and Blue World Series, with Game 1 of the seven-game series beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Davenport Field. The series will run through Oct. 23. Admission to all seven games is free to the public.

The first three games will be seven-inning contests, while games 4-6 will run nine innings apiece. The format for game 7 is yet to be determined. The first three games will count as one series, while games 4-6 will be another series. Game 7 will be the deciding game if the teams split the first two series.

Each series will be best-of-three. However, if one team loses the first two games, it may still win the championship by winning the final game by the run differential of the first two contests (e.g., If run differential combined is four runs for games one and two, then five runs wins the series).

Team rosters were selected Wednesday, and the complete rosters are in PDF format at the top of this page. The Blue Team will be coached by assistant coach Karl Kuhn, while the Orange Team will be led by volunteer assistant coach Kyle Werman.
