CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. John Hicks (Fr., Sandy Hook, Va.) doubled in fellow freshman Jared King (Radford, Va.) in the 10th inning as the Blue Team earned a 6-5 win over the Orange Team in Game 1 of the Orange and Blue World Series Tuesday night at Davenport Field.

After squandering an early three-run lead and then falling behind in the top of the ninth inning, the Blue Team rallied with a run in the bottom of the ninth on a two-out Jarrett Parker (So., Stafford, Va.) RBI triple to score Corey Hunt (Jr., Charlottesville, Va.) and force extra innings.

Hicks also hit a solo home run as part of a 2-for-4, two RBI night. Parker, Hunt, David Coleman (So., Richmond, Va.) and Phil Gosselin (So., West Chester, Pa.) also had two hits for the Blue Team.

Tyler Cannon (Jr., Pigeon Forge, Tenn.) hit an inside-the-park home run in his 3-for-5 night for the Orange Team, while Steven Kouril (Fr., Arlington, Va.) also had three hits.

Blake Forslund (Fr., Lynchburg, Va.) pitched a scoreless 10th inning to earn the win for the Blue Team, while Kevin Arico (So., Flemington, N.J.) took the loss. Both teams received some strong pitching outings. Orange starter Matt Packer (Jr., Germantown, Tenn.) went 4.2 innings and allowed two runs (one earned) and five hits with six strikeouts. Blue reliever Neal Davis (Jr., Baltimore, Md.) tossed 4.2 scoreless innings and gave up just two hits and a walk while striking out six.

The teams play Game 2 of the Orange and Blue World Series at 1 p.m. Sunday.
