CHARLOTTESVILLE Former Virginia inside linebacker Antonio Appleby is extending his college career by one game this Saturday by playing in the Western Refining Texas Vs. The Nation All-Star Challenge at the Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas. The game pits top collegiate players originally from Texas or who played in Texas against top players from around the nation. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 3 pm (EST) and will be televised by the CBS College Sports Network.

Appleby is playing for the Nation squad coached by Florida Atlantic coach Howard Schnellenberger. He was a three-year starter at UVa and appeared in 48 games in his career. He was UVa’s second-leading tackler this past season with a career-high 72 tackles and ranked 18th in the Atlantic Coast Conference in tackling with an average of 6.5 tackles per game. A native of Virginia Beach, Va., Appleby had eight tackles for loss, including one sack, and was the team’s leading tackler on three occasions.
