Christensen, Narum, Shaw Record Top-15 Finishes

INDIANAPOLIS – The 2009 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships and World Championship Trials continued Friday with the men’s 100m freestyle, women’s 200m butterfly, men’s 200m IM, women’s 200m backstroke, women’s 800m freestyle and men’s 1500m freestyle.
Senior Mei Christensen, who placed fifth in the 100 back on Wednesday night, finished seventh in the finals of the 200 back. She clocked a time of 2:12.28, besting her morning prelim time of 2:12.98. Lauren Smart finished 29th overall with a time of 2:16.69, while Amanda Faulkner was 35th in 2:17.54.
Junior Liz Shaw recorded a 15th-place finish in the 200 fly. Shaw clocked a time of 2:13.24 and also topped her prelim mark of 2:13.97.
Senior Jen Narum finished 12th in the 800 free (8:44.36) while classmate Jenna Harris placed 27th (8:53.26). Junior Taylor Smith clocked a time of 15:41.44 to earn a 21st-place finish in the 1500 free.
John Azar (2:05.81) and Tim Hayes (2:08.61) each swam in the prelims of the 200 IM, finishing 32nd and 54th, respectively.
