CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s rowing team will conclude its fall competition by hosting the Rivanna Romp Sunday at 9 a.m. on the Rivanna Reservoir. Rowing programs from Penn, Tennessee, ODU and Miami will compete, along with the host Cavaliers.

The Varsity Eight and Novice Eight races will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the Varsity Four, pairs and doubles at 11 a.m.

This marks the third regatta for Virginia during the fall season. At the Head of the Charles in Boston, Mass., Virginia rowed against national teams and top collegiate competition and won three races. Its Championship Eight finished seventh at the Head of the Charles.

At the Princeton Chase, UVa entered five boats in the Varsity Eight race and one in the Novice Eight race. The Varsity Eight finished second behind Yale in its race.

At last year’s Rivanna Romp, Virginia’s eight, four and two boats were victorious.

Virginia’s spring competition begins on March 13 vs. Michigan State in Marion, Va.
