Orange and Blue World Series Rosters Get Acrobat Reader

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia baseball team begins its annual Orange and Blue World Series at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Davenport Field. Admission is free of charge for all games during the 5-game intrasquad series, which serves as the pinnacle of the Cavaliers’ fall season.

Free parking will be available in the University Hall and John Paul Jones Arena lots. Concession and merchandise stands also will be open.

The full team has been split into an Orange team as well as a Blue Team (rosters attached). All games will consist either of nine or seven innings; this will be determined prior to each game.

There will be two 2-game series (Games 1-2 and Games 3-4 are separate series) as well as a Game 5. If a given team wins both games of either series, the other series automatically becomes a series that is based on run differential, provided it’s a split series, to allow the trailing team to still win a series. Each team is encouraged to score as many runs as possible and not worry about running the score up.

The Cavaliers return 19 letterwinners, including five position starters, from their 2012 squad which went 39-19-1 and reached the NCAA tournament for the ninth-consecutive season. UVa will have a young squad this year, including a large class of 15 freshmen. Of the 36 players currently on the fall roster, 26 are underclassmen.
