CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The incoming 2014 Virginia women’s lacrosse first-year players have been ranked as the No. 3 recruiting class in the September issue of Inside Lacrosse magazine.

On Nov. 28, 2012, head coach Julie Myers announced a group of seven players that had signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Virginia Cavaliers beginning with the 2013-14 season (Link to original recruiting class release). According to Inside Lacrosse, the group includes four players ranked in the publication’s Top-25 Rising Freshmen list.

Incoming first-year attacker Besser Dyson (Alexandria, Va.) was heralded as Inside Lacrosse‘s No. 13 prospect. Dyson’s high school teammate at St. Stephens & St. Agnes, defender Wyatt Whitley (Alexandria, Va.), also earned a top-15 ranking, coming in at No. 15. Midfielder Kelly Reese (Severna Park, Md.) and defender Maggie Preas (Rockville, Md.) were ranked No. 16 and 18, respectively, by the publication.

The recruiting class also includes goalkeeper Brittany Brown (New York, N.Y.) and midfielders Sarah Crowley (Greenlawn, N.Y.) and Posey Valis (Baltimore, Md.). The group of seven players includes five Under Armour All-Americans and three Washington Post first-team All-Met selections.
