Head Coach Joanne Boyle

“Just really excited, excited about the win, excited about ending on a good note, exciting for the seniors, and excited we put together a good game that we’re capable of. We beat a good team. Obviously Florida State has done a great job all year and has been ranked as high as 17th so it was nice to send the seniors out, at least on JPJ’s court the way we did.”

On doing the little things
“It was the team of old. We got traps in the corner. [Alexa] Deluzio got loose on us a couple times in the zone, but you’re never going to keep a great player like that down for long. We changed at the end to a triangle and two but the 50-50 balls, the free-throws down the stretch, the patience on offense, finishing layups down the stretch were all game changers for us. We’ve been in games like this, but those are the things that kept us from winning.”

On Ataira Franklin’s deserving of first team All-ACC consideration
“For sure. She has put us on her back at times. She had help tonight but there have been games where she hasn’t gotten any help. But she participated tonight and got some help, which was huge, and she has carried us a little bit. We really feel strong about her being on the All-ACC team.”

On entering the ACC Tournament
“I think we have some confidence now, and they have confidence in themselves and each other and are playing well together. We’ll give them the day off tomorrow then get two really good prep days going and show up and do some damage in that tournament.”

On today’s game
“Practice-wise nothing was different. We all just had a feeling that this was a huge game and we didn’t want it to end the way the last couple games have ended so we came out on fire and it really showed.”

On the 5-game losing streak before today
“It’s extremely frustrating. I’m sure everyone wanted us to win those games, especially the ones we thought we could win. That’s why this is such huge, positive momentum for us going into the tournament.”

On China Crosby returning from an in-game injury
“It was huge. Jaryn did a really good job filling China’s shoes when we needed her but it was awesome to see China coming back on the court and that’s when I knew ‘this is it, we got this one.'”

UVa freshman Faith RandolphOn the game
“Its senior night, and like Coach said we wanted to lay everything out on the floor, especially the underclassmen because we’ve learned so much from the seniors and that’s all we can do to repay them-just lay it all out there. I hit some shots, China believed in me and I believed in her and we were able to win the game.”

On impact of the game
“First of all, I wanted the seniors to go out with a win. I think this was a good game for us, just to get another win and get ready for the tournament. I felt like we were down a little bit but this helped us lift the fog. It was a big win.”
