GREENSBORO, N.C.—Virginia volleyball freshman outside hitter Haley Kole has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday (Sept. 9).

Kole (Tallahassee, Fla.) was named to the Pepperdine Invitational All-Tournament Team last weekend after leading the Cavaliers with 49 kills (3.77 kills per set) in three matches. The freshman either led or was tied for the team lead in kills in all three matches, including a season-high 19 in a come-from-behind five-set victory over UC Santa Barbara on Saturday (Sept. 7).

It is the third weekly award for the Cavaliers this season, after junior Tori Janowski (Sterling, Va.) and freshman Jasmine Burton (White Hills, Calif.) were named ACC Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively, on Sept. 3. It is the first time that UVa has earned back-to-back Freshman of the Week honors.

The Cavaliers return to action when they travel to Bowling Green, Ky., for a tournament at Western Kentucky this weekend (Sept. 13-14). UVa faces the host Hilltoppers on Friday, before competing against UNLV and Ohio on Saturday.
