No. 6 Cavaliers Host Notre Dame and Pittsburgh This Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE – No. 6 Virginia hosts No. 22 Notre Dame and Pittsburgh in a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference women’s tennis matches this weekend at Snyder Tennis Center.
The Cavaliers play the Fighting Irish on Friday, March 21 at 3:30 p.m. and the Panthers during Kid’s Day on Sunday, March 23 at 12 p.m. Kid’s Day activities include a face painter, balloon artist and other giveaways, including free bracelets and temporary tattoos. The Cavaliers will also host a clinic at the conclusion of the match.
The Cavaliers (10-4, 4-1 ACC) are led by sophomore Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.), who is ranked a program-best No. 3 in the ITA singles rankings and No. 9 in doubles with partner Rachel Pierson (Princeton, N.J.). In dual play, Elbaba is 10-2 at No. 1 singles and 7-4 at No. 1 doubles with Pierson.
Sophomore Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) is ranked No. 47 in the singles rankings with her 10-1 dual mark. Pierson is ranked No. 55, while reigning ACC Player of the Week Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) is No. 67. Collins went 2-0 with a pair of top-25 wins last week against Georgia and Michigan.
Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) and Li Xi (Kunming, China) competed in singles for UVa last week against Georgia and Michigan, while Caryssa Peretz (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Marie Faure (Toulouse, France) provide quality depth.
In doubles, Nauta and Epstein are ranked No. 41 with their 8-4 dual record, while the Collins and Xi tandem is 1-4.
The Cavaliers, who reached a program-high No. 3 ranking on Feb. 25, lost to then-No. 12 Georgia (4-3) and defeated then-No. 13 Michigan (5-2) last week.
Virginia is 1-1 all-time vs. Notre Dame (8-6, 2-4 ACC). The Fighting Irish singles lineup features No. 57 Quinn Gleason, who is also ranked No. 19 in doubles with Britney Sanders. Monica Robinson and Jennifer Kellner are ranked No. 77 in doubles.
The Cavaliers will meet Pittsburgh (4-5, 0-5 ACC) for the first time. Audrey Ann Blakely is ranked No. 86 in singles. Former UVa standout Emily Fraser is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Panthers.
