CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s and women’s track & field teams will host a tri-meet with California and Michigan Saturday at Lannigan Field. The meet begins at 3 p.m. and admission is free.

The meet is the second in the series of tri-meets between the nation’s top public universities. Last year the Cal men and the Michigan women won the inaugural meet in Berkeley. The three schools will compete again next year in Ann Arbor.

The Cal men enter the week ranked No. 24 in the USTFCCCA rankings and No. 3 in the Track & Field News dual meet rankings. The Cavalier women are No. 15 and the Michigan women are No. 23 in the dual meet rankings.

The Cavaliers had several strong performances at the Texas Relays and the Raleigh Relays. Adam Visokay (Ruckersville, Va.) set a school freshman record in the men’s 10,000m of 29:14.50 and currently ranks second nationally in the event. Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina) ranks sixth nationally in the men’s discus after a school freshman record of 60.41m last week. The Virginia triple jumpers Dallas Rose (Pearland, Texas) ranks second among women and Ryan Satchell (Central Islip, N.Y.) ranks fourth among men after their performances last week in Austin. They will all be in action Saturday, as will ACC Indoor 400m Champion Jordan Lavender(Nashville, Tenn.), who will run the event for the first time outdoors this spring.

Live results of the meet will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

Virginia will send athletes to the George Mason Invitational next week before competing at the ACC Outdoor Championships April 17-19 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
