CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia softball team hosts ACC foe North Carolina in a three-game series this weekend (April 5-6) at The Park. Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for a 1 p.m. state, while Sunday’s first pitch is slated for noon.

The Cavaliers (4-29, 1-13 ACC) dropped a pair of games at Longwood on Wednesday (April 2) in their last outing. The Lancers won the first game, 6-4, before taking the second, 8-4. Senior Marcy Bowdren (Fairfax Station, Va.) hit her 20th career home run in the second game and ranks seventh all-time in home runs.

The Tar Heels (18-16, 9-5 ACC) come to Charlottesville on a four-game slide after falling, 4-3, at Charlotte on Wednesday. Aquilla Mateen leads UNC with a .427 batting average, while both Jenna Kelly and Kristen Brown each have hit nine home runs this season. Lori Spingola starts the majority of the games in the circle for North Carolina and has a 13-9 record with a 3.16 ERA.

North Carolina won all three games in Chapel Hill, N.C., last season. The Tar Heels took the first game, 5-1, before taking the second and third games by a score of 2-1.

Up next, the Cavaliers host Delaware State in a doubleheader on Wednesday (April 9) at 3 p.m.
