Elbaba Nets Second ACC Player of the Week Honor

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia sophomore Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, announced Tuesday (April 8).
Elbaba, who garnered Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, went 2-0 in singles and led the Cavaliers to wins over then-No. 27 Georgia Tech (4-2) and No. 15 Clemson (5-2).
Elbaba dispatched Georgia Tech’s Kendal Woodard 6-3, 6-4 and Clemson’s No. 46 Yana Koroleva 6-4, 6-4. No. 3 Elbaba sports a 14-2 mark at No. 1 singles and has won five consecutive matches.
No. 4 Virginia (15-4, 9-1 ACC) continues ACC action at NC State and Wake Forest on April 12-13.
