CHARLOTTESVILLE – The seven Virginia men’s tennis alumni playing professionally have had a strong start to the 2014 season. Many have recorded career-high rankings in singles and doubles.

The team of Treat Huey (Class of 2008) and Dominic Inglot (Class of 2009) have climbed up the doubles rankings, each cracking the top 20 individually. They teamed to reach the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, their second straight Grand Slam quarterfinal and their fourth consecutive Grand Slam Round of 16.

Somdev Devvarman (Class of 2008) won the singles title at the Challenger Tour event in New Delhi and climbed back into the top 80 of the ATP singles rankings.

Jarmere Jenkins (Class of 2013) won singles and doubles titles on the Futures Tour in Australia and is currently ranked a career-high of No. 235 in singles and reached No. 270 in doubles.

Sanam Singh (Class of 2011) has won three doubles titles this year, two on the Challenger Tour and one on the Futures Tour. He climbed to a career-high No. 205 in the ATP doubles rankings after that run of success.

Ted Angelinos (Class of 2008) climbed to a career-high No. 251 in the rankings and competed at a Grand Slam for the first time in his career, playing the qualifying tournament at the Australian Open.

Michael Shabaz (Class of 2011) has primarily played on the Futures Tour, but did advance to the second round of qualifying at the Masters Series event in Indian Wells.
