NORTH STONINGTON, Conn.—The National Rowing Foundation has announced that former Virginia rower Lindsay Shoop will be inducted into the National Rowing Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2014 on May 31. Shoop is one of 17 athletes and coaches who have been selected.

A graduate of 2004, Shoop is being inducted as part of the Olympic Champion U.S. women’s eight that claimed gold in 2008 in Beijing. Shoop was joined on the crew by Erin Cafaro, Anna Goodale, Eleanor Logan, Anna Mickelson Cummins, Susan Francia, Caroline Lind, Caryn Davies, Mary Whipple Murray and were coached by Tom Terhaar.

In addition to these 10, Porter Collins, Yasmin “Yaz” Farooq, Jamie Koven, Garrett Miller, Tom Welsh, Michael Wherley and John “Jack” Sulger are being inducted for individual achievement.

Shoop was a two-time All-American with the Cavaliers and won multiple medals as part of the U.S. National Team. A four-time World Rowing Championship competitor, Shoop was a part of the women’s eight that claimed gold three times (2006, 2007 and 2009) and also earned two gold medals, a silver and a bronze at World Rowing Cup regattas throughout her career.
