CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia softball team travels to Blacksburg, Va., this weekend (April 12-13) for a three-game series against in-state rival Virginia Tech. Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for a noon start, while Sunday’s first pitch is slated for 1 p.m.

The Cavaliers (6-32, 1-16 ACC) swept Delaware State, 8-0 and 2-0, Wednesday at The Park (April 9). Sophomore Aimee Chapdelaine (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) pitched the first two shutouts of her career, while freshman Madison Labshere (El Cajon, Calif.) hit two home runs in the first game.

The Hokies (24-16, 13-6 ACC) swept Pittsburgh, 3-2 and 2-0, Wednesday in Blacksburg. Kylie McGoldrick leads the team with a .348 batting average and eight home runs, while Maggie Tyler (11-5, 3.18 ERA) and Kelly Heinz (13-11, 3.82 ERA) share the pitching duties.

Last year, the Hokies took two of three in Charlottesville, sweeping a doubleheader, 6-0 and 5-1, before the Cavaliers claimed the finale, 7-0.

Up next, the Cavaliers host Notre Dame in a three-game series April 18-19. Friday evening’s doubleheader is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start, while Saturday’s first pitch is slated for noon. Saturday will be Senior Day and the Cavaliers’ three seniors will be recognized in a short ceremony before the game.
