Greensboro, N.C. – The 22nd-ranked Virginia women’s golf team is in second place after 36 holes of play at the 26th annual ACC Championships taking place at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. The Cavaliers shot 15-over 299 Friday for a two-day total of 22-over 590. Duke, ranked No. 3, enters Saturday’s final round in first place at 8-over 576.

The Blue Devils broke a first-round tie with the Cavaliers by shooting 1-over 285 Friday.

North Carolina moved up to third place at 597 and Miami is fourth at 599.

Virginia’s Briana Mao and Lauren Coughlin both shot 2-over 73 to lead the team during the second round. They are tied for third place in stroke play at 2-over 144. Lauren Diaz-Yi is in 14th place at 149. She shot 76 during Friday’s play. Portland Rosen is 28th at 153 and Elizabeth Brightwell is 38th at 156. Both players carded second-round scores of 77.

Duke’s Celine Boutier used a 2-under 69 to take over the individual lead at 2-under 140. Florida State’s Matilda Castren, the first round leader, is in second place at 143.

Eight of the 11 teams in the tournament are currently ranked in Golfstat’s top-30 poll. Duke is seeking its third straight ACC title and its 19th overall in the 26-year history of the tournament.

The Cavaliers will start Saturday’s final round at 9:20 a.m. while playing from the first tee. UVa will be paired with Duke and UNC.
