Raleigh, N.C. – The No. 8 Virginia men’s golf team won its second consecutive tournament, finishing first at NC State’s weather-shorted Wolfpack Spring Open. With Saturday’s play washed out due to rain, the 15-team tournament was reduced to an 18-hole affair.

Virginia used a strong finish to pick up its third tournament title this season. The Cavaliers’ four scoring players shot a combined 5-under over the final four holes to surge past second-place Clemson. The Cavaliers finished at 4-over 292, three strokes ahead of the 33rd-ranked Tigers.

David Pastore led UVa with an even-par 72 to finish tied for fourth. Denny McCarthy and Ji Soo Park tied for eighth at 1-over 73. Pastore and Park both birdied the No. 15 and 17 holes and McCarthy added a birdie on No. 15 to provide the Cavaliers with their strong finish.

Derek Bard was 16th overall at 74 while Jimmy Stanger shot 76 to place 26th. , competing as a non-scoring individual, was 40th with a score of 77.

NC State’s Logan Harrell took medalist honors at 5-under 67.

Virginia competes at the three-day, 54-hole ACC Championships starting Friday in New London, N.C.
