COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior J.C. Aragone (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and freshman Carl Soderlund (Stockholm, Sweden) competed in qualifying singles for the $75,000 Columbus Men’s Pro Challenger tournament, being held in Columbus, Ohio.

Aragone began play in the round of 32, downing Alex Kobelt, 6-2, 6-3. Söderlund, as the No. 2 seed in qualifying, had a bye into the round of 16 where he faced Aragone. Aragone won the all-Cavalier match-up 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 to advance to the qualifying final.

On Monday morning, Aragone downed Dragos Constantin Ignat, currently ranked No. 1185 in the world, 7-5, 7-5 to earn a place in the main singles draw. Aragone has advanced through Challenger qualifying once already this season, playing his way into the Charlottesville Challenger’s main draw in the first week of November.

Aragon fell 6-3, 6-3 to third-seeded Henri Laaksonen in the first round of the main draw on Tuesday.
