Madison, Wis.- The No. 18 men’s cross country teamfinished 30th overall at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wis., on Friday (Oct. 13).

Senior Brent Demarest (Charleston, S.C.) led the Cavaliers, finishing 56th with a time of 24.23.5. Sophomore Lachlan Cook (Brisbane, Australia) was next to cross for the Cavaliers in 134th place. He finished with a time of 24.57.8.

Redshirt sophomore Matthew Novak (Glen Allen, Va.) and senior Chase Weaverling (Darnestown, Md.) finished 144th and 166th, respectively. Novak recorded a time of 25:01.4, while Weaverling recorded a time of 25:10.1. Redshirt sophomore Alex Corbett (Burke, Va.) rounded out the scoring runs with a time of 25.44.6. He finished 208th overall.

“Nothing positive for today,” head men’s cross country coach Pete Watson said. “That performance cannot happen again. We just made the rest of the season very difficult for ourselves. We have two more meets and we have to respond in a better way. It’s in our hands.”

The Cavaliers will head next to ACC Championships in Louisville, Ky. on Oct. 27.
