Jonesborough, Tenn. – The Virginia men’s golf team moved up two spots on the leaderboard after the second round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate to occupy ninth place after 36 holes of play. UVA shot 4-under 284 on Saturday for a two-day total of 3-under 573. 
 
Host school East Tennessee State continues to lead the 14-team field at 27-under 549. Kent State is in second place at 551.
 
UVA senior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) shot 2-under 70 for the second straight day to lead the Cavaliers. He enters Sunday’s final round in 19th place at 4-under 140. Junior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) shot 73 and dropped back to 25th place at 3-under 141.
 
Freshman David Morgan (Naples, Fla.) and sophomore WeiWei Gao (Cebu City, Philippines) are tied for 54th at 147. Morgan posted a second-round score of 70 while Gao fired 73. Freshmen Jack Montague (Makakin-Sabot, Va.) is in 57th place at 147. She shot 71 after opening the tournament with a 77.
 
Sophomore Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.), who is competing as an individual, is in tied with Walsh for 19th place. He shot 69 after opening with a 71.
