UVA Finishes 11th at Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate
Jonesborough, Tenn. – The Virginia men’s golf team finished 11th at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in the team’s third tournament of the fall. UVA shot 1-over 289 on Sunday for a three-day total of 2-under 862. Host school East Tennessee took the team championship with a score of 32-under 832.
UVA’s top finisher at the tournament was sophomore Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.), who was competing as an individual and did not count toward the team’s standing. He shot 1-under 71 on Sunday and was 17th overall at 5-under 211.
Senior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) was 18th for the Cavaliers after shooting 4-under 212. He was one of three UVA players to shoot even par 72 during the final round. Junior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and freshman David Morgan (Naples, Fla.) also shot even par on Sunday. Orischak placed 22nd overall at 3-under 213 while Morgan was 49th at 219.
Sophomore WeiWei Gao (Cebu City, Philippines) and freshman Jack Montague (Makakin-Sabot, Va.) tied for 58th overall at 5-over 221. Gao posted a final-round score of 74 while Montague shot 73.
UVA wraps up its fall schedule next weekend at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate next Friday through Sunday.
