Cavaliers Continue To Advance At ITA Atlantic Regional

LYNCHBURG, Va. –Three singles players and a doubles team continued to advance at the ITA Atlantic Regional on Sunday, staying alive to move on to the fourth day of the event hosted by Liberty when play continues on Monday (Oct. 15).
Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine), who is the overall No. 2 seed in singles, picked up a pair of wins on Sunday to advance to the quarterfinals. She’ll be joined in action by No. 12 seed Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) and Camille Favero (Sacramento, Calif.) who also each won two matches.
In doubles action, the pairing of Kelley and Sofia Munera (Pereira, Colombia) picked up a win to advance to the semifinals on Monday morning.
Also competing in singles action on Sunday were Hunter Bleser (New Braunfels, Texas) and Amber O’Dell (New Milford, N.J.), who is the No. 16 seed in singles. Both split matches, winning their first of the day before falling in the second.
In doubles action, the third-seeded pairing of Gullickson and O’Dell fell in the quarterfinals.
Singles play continues on Monday with the quarterfinals and semifinals, while the doubles semifinals will also be played. The finals in both events will be played on Tuesday.
The winners will advance to compete at the Oracle/ITA National Fall Championships from Nov. 7-11 in Surprise, Ariz. Players can also play their way into an at-large berth with their performances in regional play.
The Oracle ITA National Fall Championships features 128 of the nation’s top collegiate singles players (64 men and 64 women) and 64 doubles teams (32 men’s teams and 32 women’s teams). In its second year, having replaced the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, it is the lone event on the collegiate tennis calendar to feature competitors from all five divisions playing in the same tournament.
