CHARLOTTESVILLE,  Va. – Blue took a commanding, 3-1 lead in the Orange and Blue World Series after a 3-2 victory in game four. Blue scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a 2-0 deficit.
 
Sophomore Brendan Rivoli (Douglassville, Pa.) was responsible for all three Blue runs. He hit a one-out double that scored Nic Kent (Gordonsville, Va.) and Jalen Harrison (Palmyra, Va.), tying the game up at two. A batter later, Rivoli scored the go-ahead run on an RBI ground out by Nate Eikoff (Bristow, Va.).
 
Senior Chesdin Harrington (Montpelier, Va.) was credited with the win after pitching two scoreless innings of relief for Blue. He faced eight batters and struck out a pair for his first win of the fall.
 
Orange was powered by a pair of RBI singles from Cameron Simmons (Royersford, Pa.). The senior outfielder plated Zack Gelof (Rehobeth Beach, Del.) with a single in the top of the first and in his next at bat drove in Tanner Morris (Crozet, Va.) to give Orange a 2-0 advantage after three innings. Simmons was 2-for-2 with two RBI and a walk in the contest.
 
Gelof and Morris each had a pair of hits, rounding out the three Orange multi-hit performers.
 
Orange starting pitcher Zach Messinger (Chandler, Ind.) held Blue hitless over his first three innings of work. He tossed four scoreless innings and exited with a 2-0 lead.  
 
Blue starting pitcher, Noah Murdock (Colonial Heights, Va.) also pitched four innings in his second start of the series. He allowed two runs and struck out a pair in the no decision.
 
Game five of the Orange and Blue World Series will take place on Friday (Oct. 26) at 6 p.m. Celebrate Halloween at Disharoon Park with trick or treating on the concourse, a costume contest and Halloween themed promotions throughout the game.

Game 2: Sunday, Oct. 14 – Orange, 5-2
Game 3: Thursday, Oct. 18 – Blue, 3-1
Game 4: Sunday, Oct. 21 – Blue, 3-2

Game 5: Thursday, Oct. 25 – 3:15 p.m.
Game 6: Thursday, Nov. 1 – 3:15 p.m.
 
* With the six-game format, a winner of the series will be determined by the following order: 1) the first team to win four games 2) based on overall run differential if the series is tied at three games. All six games will be played, regardless of if the series has been decided.
