Final Results

Alpharetta, Ga. –The Virginia men’s golf team wrapped up its fall season by tying for seventh place at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational. UVA shot 4-over 292 during Sunday’s final round for a three-day total of 3-over 867.  USC won the 14-tournament at 22-under 842.
 
The field for the tournament included 11 teams ranked among the top-50 by Golfstat.com. UVA placed ahead of No. 28 Stanford (868), No. 9 Texas A&M (869), No. 32 Florida State (872), No. 49 TCU (888) and No. 47 New Mexico (890).
 
Senior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) posted a final-round score of 4-under 68 to lead the Cavaliers with a 10th-place finish, shooting 4-under 212. It was the 12th top-10 finish for Walsh during his career. This fall he shot par or better in 10 of 12 rounds.
 
Sophomore Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.) finished at even par 216 for a 21st-place showing. Massie shot 2-over 74 during the final round. Freshman David Morgan (Naples, Fla.) was 41st at 4-over 220. He shot 75 on Sunday along with junior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.). Orischak was 45th at 221. Sophomore WeiWei Gao (Cebu City, Philippines) was 59th at 224.
 
USC’s Justin Suh claimed medalist honors at 14-under 202.
 
Virginia will open the spring portion of its season Feb. 21-23 at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Kauai, Hawaii.
