CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 10 Virginia (6-1-2) will host its second unbeaten team of its homestand when it squares off against No. 5 Denver (10-0-2) on Monday night at Klöckner Stadium. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will air live on ACC Network Extra.

FOR STARTERS
• Monday’s match will be the first ever meeting between Denver and Virginia. The Cavaliers have not played any of the current Summit League schools.
• The Cavaliers are 4-0-1 against non-conference opponents this season and 22-3-3 against non-conference opponents at Klöckner Stadium since 2015.
• Virginia will play its third-straight nationally ranked opponent for the first time since 2012. The Cavaliers are 2-1-1 so far against ranked foes.
• Denver is the highest ranked opponent not from the ACC to play in Charlottesville since 2004 (No. 1 New Mexico – T- 1-1 – 11/27/04)
• Denver comes into the contest as one of the top offenses in the country, scoring 2.33 goals per game while Virginia has conceded just four goals in nine games and sports a 0.44 goals against average.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• The Cavaliers had their five-game win streak halted on Friday night after No. 23 Duke came away with a 2-0 win at Klöckner Stadium.
• Duke scored two first half goals, one on a penalty kick by the ACC’s leading scorer, Daniele Proch in the fourth minute.
• Virginia out-shot Duke, 9-5 with four shots that landed on target. The Cavaliers have out-shot their opponent in six of their nine games this season.
• Prior to tonight’s match, every regular season match against Duke since 2004 has been tied or decided by one goal.
 
SEASON STREAKS
• Virginia had its stretch of four-straight multi-goal efforts stopped on Friday. The four consecutive games with two or more goals was the longest since 2013.
• Virginia had been one of seven unbeaten teams in the country through its first eight games. After Friday’s action five teams remain, including Denver (10-0-2).
• The Cavaliers won five-straight games from Sept. 18 to Oct. 2, the longest winning stretch since 2009.
• The Cavaliers were unbeaten through their first eight games for the first time since 2006.
• Virginia had its scoreless streak of 484 minutes snapped against Wright State on Oct. 2.
• Virginia has scored multiple goals in four-straight games for the first time since 2013.
• Bell recorded an assist in four-straight games and is tied for seventh in the ACC with four total assists.
 
COMING FROM BEHIND
• Virginia went into halftime on Friday against Duke trailing for the first time this season.
• The Cavaliers have trailed in three games this season, against Virginia Tech (39 seconds), Wright State (28:05) and Duke (86:14)
 
ACC RANKS
• Colin Shutler leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in save percentage and is tied for the most shutouts with six. His 0.42 goals against average is the second lowest to North Carolina’s James Pyle (0.39).
• Sophomore Joe Bell’s four assists are tied for the eighth-most in the league.
• Playing in seven of the nine games, freshman Daniel Steedman has a total of 17 shots, second most on the team. His 2.43 shots per game are the sixth most in among his ACC cohorts.
 
NOTING DENVER
• Perennial Summit League power, Denver, has won five-straight regular season championships and four of the last five tournament titles.
• The Pioneers are unblemished through the first 12 games for the third time in four years. Denver is one of five unbeaten teams remaining in college soccer.
• The Denver offense is powered by junior forward Andre Shinyashiki who has an astounding 21 goals through his first 12 games of the 2018 season to lead all collegiate goal scorers. He scored twice against Purdue-Fort Wayne to help the Pioneers to a 3-0 start in conference play.
• For the first time, first-year Virginia assistant coach Ryan Hopkins will square off against his former employer. Hopkins was an associate head coach under Jamie Franks for the past five seasons, a run that included two undefeated seasons and a run to the 2016 College Cup.
